Great Ocean Road

Dedicated to the fallen soldiers of World War I, the Great Ocean Road is the world’s largest war memorial. It winds its way along the coast from the seaside town of Torquay to the whale watching village of Warrnambool. The drive takes you past the world renowned surf break of Bells Beach, the famous lighthouse at Aireys Inlet, and the cosmopolitan tourist hub of Lorne. The latter part of the road extends past the coastal hamlet of Apollo Bay, the Great Otway National Park and the Twelve Apostles, before passing Loch Ard Gorge and culminating just before Warrnambool.

For keen hikers, the recently-opened Great Ocean Walk connects 104 kilometres of walking trails from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles. Mantra offers Great Ocean Road accommodation in Lorne, the perfect place to step away from the wheel and relax.

At the heart of the Great Ocean Road, the cosmopolitan tourist hub of Lorne is the perfect place to relax and recharge the batteries. Catch a wave at the surf beach, visit the vibrant cafés and restaurants, or explore the coastal rainforest region of Erskine Falls, home to the famous Falls Festival.
