I had the choice for work to stay at Mantra Esplanade or Oaks. I chose Mantra as I have had a positive experience in the past. Check in was fine except to be told there is no restaurant on site despite your website saying it is. https://www.mantraesplanadecairns.com.au/dining/ Room was good. Despite my company saying all charges and it being on the booking, I was told it wasn't. I signed up to Accor and got a free Bufffet Breakfast at the hotel next door. It was average. I was told a duty manager would look in to me getting charges back to my room the next day. No one said anything and nor did I ask because I wouldn't want the breakfast again. On second night I got back to find my door not open. I waited in line for 25 minutes to be told the batteries in my door had gone flat, only to then wait another 20 minutes all while more customers were served (majority asking why is there no housekeeping (cause it only happens every 7 days) and then there only being 3 batteries and a door requiring 4. After 45 minutes, it was resolved. Not a particularly positive experience. There needs to be more accurate detail.

The staff are very pleasant, knowledgeable and willing to help. The location of the Matra Esplanade is excellent, and the rooms are large and very comfortable. However, the room I had was fitted with a shower curtain and getting attacked by a sticky wet shower curtain whilst showering is not a pleasant or enjoyable experience. The room was as far from the lifts as it is possible to get.
