This was my first visit to Coolangatta in more than 20 years and it definitely won't be my last. In fact I really wish that I could return again next week. From the very first friendly Hello, and welcome to the Mantra Coolangatta, along with some helpful local information like where to enjoy breakfast - Bellakai next door, our experience was excellent. Our two bedroom apartment on level 9 overlooking the beach was great - sunrise and sunset views were excellent. This was definitely a long overdue family escape, and my son has already asked me as to when we're going back for our next holiday.

We booked a three night stay. The unit is well located with free underground parking. Check in was easy. We arrived early and they had a room ready. I had booked a one bedroom ocean but was upgraded to a 2 bedroom ocean. The staff at reception are very friendly. Upon entering the apartment you could tell the unit was tired looking. Stains on carpet, stains on sofa, chips in the tile floor in the kitchen. The kitchen was poorly equipped. No pairing or slicing knife. Just a serrated knife. Glasses need to be hand washed as they fall over in dishwasher. They only provide instant coffee and tea bags. Both bathrooms very outdated. They provide you with bar soap to wash your hands but no soap dish to put the wet bar of soap in. No hand towels for bathroom. When I inquired I was told Mantra had stopped providing hand towels to guests. Both sinks in the bathrooms had no pop up plunger in the drain so you are looking down the rusty sink drain. The bedrooms looked updated with headboards and matching bedside tables and lamps. . The only problem with the master bedroom was when I was making my bed in the morning and I noticed a hole in my top sheet. The overall cleanliness was disappointing. I saw in the reviews when management replies to posting they tout their high level of cleanliness. Mantra is listed as a four star rating. I would definitely not give it a four star rating. I also booked here as I am an ALL Accor member and know the standards they have at other properties.
