Perth is known for sunny days with its beautiful weather equally matched by the friendliness of the locals. Sunshine and smiles are just some of the things that you can expect from Perth. It is also home to some of the most beautiful beaches and most stunning sunsets. We asked Chris McIntosh the General Manager from Mantra on Murray to share his favourite family friendly things to do in Perth.
Synergy Parklands – Kings Park precinct Just a short drive from the CBD will bring you to a refreshing and entertaining open air playground in Kings Park; it is one the best outdoor Perth attractions. Aside from the great water features and a picnic area with electric barbeques, its main appeal is the giant reptile and dinosaur structures. If you’ve got a dinosaur fan in the family – this is the place to go! Relax in the picnic area as your kids enjoy a day of climbing, splashing and playing. If you’re visiting in Summer end your day with a movie under the stars at the Moonlight Outdoor Cinema. Tickets start at $12.50 and you can even hire a bean bag bed for just $9 if you prefer to watch it in style.

Best Perth Family Breakfast Just a 15 minute drive from Mantra on Murray is Perth’s best breakfast spot, Little Sisto in Doubleview. Featuring brightly coloured fruit and plants, the décor sets the mood for fresh and delicious food. With fast and friendly service, you will enjoy both the experience and your meal. Choose from traditional items like the eggs benedict or try one of their seasonal dishes. If you have a sweet tooth, or if the little ones enjoy ‘getting a coffee’ a babyccino is a must.
Best Perth Family Dinner With a view of the Indian Ocean, Cicerello’s on Fisherman’s Wharf in Freemantle serves some of the best and freshest seafood in Perth. The menu offers something to entice everyone, try their mouth-watering fish and chips or fresh oysters and on Tuesdays, kids eat free. This is a place where both the view and food are equally reasons to visit. The kids will also love the “Noah’s Ark” aquarium which includes over 50 local species.
Best coffee in Perth In addition to amazing coffee and cupcakes, Piccolo's Corner Café in Leederville is eclectically decorated and features an outdoor courtyard. It is the ideal place to enjoy the perfect cup of coffee and relax while your kids start their day off with some creative play time.
Serpentine National Park Just over 50 kilometres southeast of Perth lies Serpentine National Park, with 10,840 acres of beautiful bushland, waterfalls, swimming holes, dams and wildflowers. The swimming holes are a refreshing place to cool off in the summer months and a great alternative to the beach. Enjoy the falls’ viewing platform by day and enjoy the wild kangaroos at dusk - just remember to keep your distance. Near the carpark you will find ample amenities including picnic benches and barbeques to make a nice lunch or dinner. This Perth attraction is spectacular year round and in the winter months you may even get the picnic area to yourself.
The Pinnacles A scenic 90 minute drive will bring you to one of the most unique Perth attractions. Here you can see thousands of limestone pillars scattered across the yellow sand of the desert. The Pinnacles are composed of shells and date back millions of years. Some pillars are nearly 4 metres tall, some finish in a jagged point and others have rounded domes; the asymmetrical landscape resembles something out of a science fiction novel. You will certainly want to remember your camera on this excursion. To soak it all in, you can drive around, walk along the trail or head to the Discovery Centre and learn more about the area and its history.
