Gold Coast gets arty with the Bleach Festival

Arts lovers from all over Australia are set to descend upon the Gold Coast this March as the famous Bleach Festival gets underway. It's the biggest arts and culture extravaganza on the Gold Coast, welcoming a vast audience of all ages to 17 days of fun and festivity.

There are more than 50 events taking place throughout the course of Bleach, which is set in a range of different locations, including the southern Gold Coast and across the city.

Expect to see some of the best contemporary artists and musicians from around the country performing across three huge weekends, where the community is encouraged to participate as much as possible.

The artistic events exist in harmony with the natural environment, so you can expect plenty of beachside fun! It's not all art-based, however. There are also street parties, outdoor films and live music performances to sink your teeth into, too.

Bleach has a young but very successful history which has seen more than 140,000 people attend the hundreds of acts. If you're looking for fantastic events on the Gold Coast this year, be sure to add Bleach to your agenda.

Events

See Emma McGovern and Darcy Grant take the stage for Sequins and Sinew, a circus show with a difference. Expect a soaring aerial performance that will be premiering at Bleach, with cranes showcasing the dancers high above the Surfers Paradise strip. It will be held on 6-8 March at Queen Elizabeth Park in Coolangatta, and best of all it's a free event.

"Bleach Festival is about to take the Gold Coast by storm, bringing lovers of the arts and cultural performances together."

Take the kids along to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary's Village Green on 7 March for the Silent Movie Night, where 'The Kids Stakes' will be backed by live musical accompaniment. Families will be enchanted by the 1920s silent film which tells the story of a gang of Woolloomooloo kids and a pet goat named hector.

See Juzzie Smith's national album launch party at the Soundlounge on 19 March. The blues musician plays all over the world, using guitars, harmonicas, his voice and a Stompbox to create music that is joyful and playful, blending blues, folk and country in one rousing package. His songs have charted all over the world and his latest album, Rise and Shine, sees him embark on his largest national and international tour to date. Book your tickets now to help celebrate this momentous occasion with Juzzie and fans from all over the nation.
