Ekka steals the show in Brisbane
It may have started as simply an agricultural show, but these days Ekka, or The Royal Queensland Show, is more of a celebration of the culture and vibrancy of Brisbane.
This year, the event is on at the Brisbane showgrounds from August 8-17.
Hundreds of thousands of people go through the gates every year to see the initiatives, produce and resources on show - not to mention the food, music and rides.
If the excitement of the annual show isn't enough to get you to this event, consider heading along for one of the special performances scheduled throughout the fortnight.
Sam Powers, magician extraordinaire, is bringing his world-renowned magic show to Brisbane for twice-daily performances. He already holds the title for Entertainer of the Year in Australia and is sure to be a hit with audiences young and old.

Fashionistas will love the Commbank Natural Fibres Fashion Parade held throughout Ekka. For the first time, this parade is being staged at the Royal International Convention Centre where it will feature some of Australia's best designers and their skill for marrying contemporary fashion design with natural fibres.
For an event that will really have you on the edge of your seat, head along to the Ignites 360 spectacular at the Energex Community Arena. From 7pm nightly you can watch as a melee of fireworks, lasers, comedians and water fountains create explosive and exciting visual feats across five stages. You know it's going to be impressive when it takes an additional five generators to power each show.
If you haven't already got your Brisbane accommodation sorted, then it's as simple as booking online when you book your tickets to Ekka!
