AFL teams battle it out from March to September each year to secure the title of champions, with 23 rounds of competition resulting in a field of the top eight teams qualifying for the final round of the year. It all kicks off on September 5-7, when qualifying and elimination finals get underway around the country. Week two will see the semi-finals take place, with the preliminaries on September 19 and 20. Finally, on September 27, the two best teams will meet at the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground for the Toyota AFL Grand Final.

It's expected almost 95,000 fans will pack out the stands of this prestigious venue for the grand final, and millions more will watch it live on television around Australia and the world. Melbourne will come alive with a carnival-like atmosphere, and even if you don't have tickets to the game itself you can still soak up the atmosphere at a bar nearby.
