If you're a self-confessed film buff, an arthouse cinema lover or any other type of movie obsessive, the Gold Coast Film Festival is sure to have something that's right up your alley. Movie making is an art form that has thrilled, challenged, terrified and entertained audiences for many years and the GCFF aims to combine the best new releases with some classic favourites.

The festival will run from April 3-13 at a number of venues around the beautiful Gold Coast,  The Arts Centre Gold Coast, BCC Pacific Fair and the Royal Queensland Art Society Gallery. Fans have a varied range of films to look forward to, including celebrated auteur Wes Anderson's latest film The Grand Budapest Hotel, the uplifting musical Sunshine on Leith and the offbeat comedy Convenience.

There are also quite a few classic films to relive all over again, from Mary Poppins and The Princess Bride to master animator Hayao Miyazaki's whimsical Laputa: Castle in the Sky.

It's only fitting that the festival takes place in the Gold Coast, as the centre plays host to over 75 per cent of total film production in the state. In honour of its central role in Queensland cinema, the GCFF is all about showcasing local film talent and bringing the best feature films to audiences in the area.

Alongside the exciting roster of films will be a series of REEL LIFE seminars, workshops and networking events designed to foster the next generation of homegrown filmmakers. This year, there will also be several special guests to look forward to, such as director and actor John Jarratt, Kiwi actor Temuera Morrison, 'Saving Mr Banks' producer Ian Collie and much more.

From foreign language, documentaries and Japanese anime to musical sing-a-longs - you name it, the GCFF has got it. Get your holiday accommodation booked at conveniently located Mantra Legends Hotel to enjoy the best this festival has to offer.
