Get ready for Perth's Cabaret Soiree

There's plenty to explore in Tweed. Get ready for Perth's Cabaret Soiree

Get your glad rags on and get ready to visit Perth, with its sizzling Cabaret Soiree season hitting town this August.

During the festival season, which runs from August 21 until October 11, there will be an incredible, sizzling array of musical performances and theatre from artists both local and from all over the country.

All the action is taking place at DownStairs at the Maj, that is, His Majesty's Theatre, found at 825 Hay Street.

What kind of events can you expect to take place during these weeks of fun and celebration? To begin, there will be a number of tributes to some of the world's best musical acts, such as Jim Morrison, Annie Lennox, Dorothy Fields, Sophie Tucker and all your other favourites.

One highlight of the Cabaret Soiree season is Amanda Harrison, star of musical theatre such as Wicked and We Will Rock You. She will perform on August 21, 22 and 23 with a thrilling mix of humour, conversation and of course, stunning singing and talent.

Don't miss Luigi Lucente in Jim Morrison: Kaleidoscope on August 28 to 30, in an epic display that harks back to the golden age of Jim Morrison and 1960s rock'n'roll. Having starred in Jersey Boys, Wicked and Guys and Dolls, Lucente is the perfect person to channel the spirit and musicianship of one of the greatest rock stars of all time.

For a twist on classics from Annie Lennox, make sure you check out star of Jersey Boys Michael Griffiths' Sweet Dreams: Songs by Annie Lennox performance in October. Here, Griffiths interprets the works of the musical superstar with his own new meanings and reinterpretations adding to the wondrous legacy of the star herself. Prepare to be treated to - and fall in love with all over again - classics such as Love Is A Stranger, Why and There Must Be An Angel.

Make sure you turn up to Downstairs at the Maj nice and early, so you can savour some nibbles and drinks from the wonderful menu before the show starts.
