The Routine Mama, Kylie Camps recently stayed with Mantra on Salt Beach with her family of four. With a business dedicated to helping new mums settle their kids and get them into a good routine, she was kind enough to share with us her top 5 tips for enjoying a holiday with toddlers.
1. Create a family checklist Know what your family needs to truly relax and have a good time on holidays. Select an accommodation option that has all your favourite activities but also has the essentials like a kitchen and laundry facilities.
2. Toddler-proof as soon as you arrive Nobody wants a holiday cut short by an unfortunate accident. Be as pre-preemptive as possible and toddler-proof against your little explorers as soon as you get in the door.
3. Bring their creature comforts along Whatever the go-to is for settling at home, whether it’s their favourite toy or a night light bring it along so they have a touch of the familiar with them.
4. Allow yourself to relax your family routine Keep the basis of your routine the same, but allow for flexibility. They might not quite be ready to get out of the pool come nap time, or might crash an hour earlier than usual after the excitement of the day.
5. Factor in a little ‘you’ or ‘us’ time Be sure to make time to go for a solo walk on the beach or book in for a romantic dinner and organise a babysitter. After all, it’s just as important for you to have a good time and relax on holidays too!
