Discover a special piece of Western Australian history by visiting Tranby House (1839) in Maylands. This beautiful historic house is situated on the banks of the Swan River in Perth’s eastern suburbs. It is one of the only houses left from the early pioneers of the Swan River colony.

Take a fascinating tour to explore the 1839 mud brick home that took three attempts to build and hear about its fascinating history. Learn about the owner and builder Joseph Hardey, a Methodist Lay preacher and his family, and appreciate the significance they had on the development of Western Australia.

Wander through the restored rooms examining the original furniture of the family along with letters, diaries and other memorabilia. Sit down in the Warden’s Cottage for a delicious Devonshire Tea and keep an eye out for the magnificent old English oak trees in the picturesque gardens.
