The multi award-winning tourist attraction – The Perth Mint, is one of the world’s oldest mints still operating from its original premises and one of Western Australia’s most historic buildings.
The Mint was established in 1899 as a branch of the British Royal Mint to refine gold from Western Australia’s newly discovered goldfields and to strike gold sovereigns for the Empire.
Behind the majestic wrought iron gates that were locked to the general public for more than 90 years, it now unveils a wealth of treasures, welcoming visitors to experience one of Western Australia’s premier tourist destinations.
A pure gold rush waits as the Mint gives you the opportunity to experience the excitement of the early gold rushes, see the harsh conditions endured by prospectors seeking their fortunes, and be captivated by a traditional gold pouring performance in the original Melting House.
You can handle more than AUD600,000 worth of gold bullion, discover the value of your weight in gold and strike and engrave your own personalised medallions. Admire the world's largest collection of natural gold nuggets including the Normandy Nugget and hundreds of gold bars from around the world that gleam from the darkness of the original 1899 vault.
