Mystic Downs Fa... F TripAdvisor review

Easy, fast check in, parking included, very convenient and safe. Great location, room had views to the ocean, clean and tidy. The room had a balcony which was nice to open the door, listen to the sea and feel the breeze instead of aircon. Highly recommended.

Only a sheet on the bed, reported to manager. No further linen was provided. Breakfast not included, no dining discount and no drink vouchers as is typical of Accor platinum. We appreciate it is somewhere in the fine print but we didn't see it. No hotel info (amentities wifi etc) provided on check in. The QR compendium is a link to the main Accor page and does not provide the info we needed. Such as wifi. Calls to reception were unhelpful and we were asked to go to reception which was also ineffectual on all matters above. Definitely would not stay again and we were very polite in communicating these concerns and the staff were quite rude and dismissive. Housekeeping staff in halls were very nice but it was also disappointing the room wasn't serviced during the stay.

On traveling to Coolangatta and booking into the Mantra Twin Towns hotel , I wanted to use my All Accor gift card to pay for some of my stay but on handing my unused card over to the reception and them checking the “balance” I was told there was only $2.29 left from the $400. They said I had to ring the phone number on the card to dispute the “use” of the card. On doing so I was told I had no leg to stand on as it states on the card “if lost or stolen” I was to blame. I also was told that someone ( no name allowed to be divulged) had stayed in an Adelaide Accor hotel for 2 nights and used most of the card’s value up. I find this absolutely astonishing, as it wasn’t me and I hadn’t traveled to South Australia at all . Even more amazing was that the 3 digit number that had to be revealed by scratching the card was still unscratched , until the receptionist scratched it infront of me. Never will I stay at an Accor hotel again. This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and deeply upsetting. I also will not be recommending this chain of hotels.

Don’t be influenced by the glitz and glammer on the website. This hotel is in desperate need of a make over and whilst the views from the back tower are quite pleasant, the rooms are far more ‘pub’ like than hotel! The bathrooms are not well maintained, the walls heavily marked and the beds!?! The 2 bedroom apartment was ample in size with a relatively functional layout out, however the beds are 2 singles, zipped together with a hard plastic zipper and nothing over them, other than a covering sheet. May as well have kept them as single beds as there was no benefit in zipping them, other than to cause an uncomfortable evening if you rolled onto the zip. There is nothing on the bed, other than a bottom sheet and a top sheet! No covering - doona, quilt etc. We managed to find a blanket in the cupboard that was like an old piece of wool carpet, that you certainly did not want touching you! There is ample parking and if you are one for playing pokies, there are more of these than people - so maybe that is the appeal for some! Definitely not to the standard of the many Mantra’s I have stayed in.
