The city of Hervey Bay derives its name from the surrounding body of water called Hervey Bay, formed by Fraser Island. This city is approximately three and a half hours drive from Brisbane as you travel north along the Bruce Highway. The western shores of the island form a boundary of the Port of Maryborough, better known as the Fraser Coast.
