The indigenous locals, the Larrakia people, maintain a strong presence, seen in the Aboriginal Art Galleries in the area. Follow in the footsteps of the early seafarers from Stokes Hill Wharf, up Travelers’ Walk with its fascinating mural, to Harry Chan Avenue. Once you’ve seen the sights, there’s nothing nicer than a walk or bike ride along the Esplanade, taking in the historical landmarks of the Cenotaph and Government House, grab a bite to eat at any of al fresco restaurants on the waterfront, and then relax in Bicentennial Park with its marvelous views of Darwin Harbour – twice the size of Sydney’s!
