Located at the forest's edge of the Newington Nature Reserve, the newly-opened Discovery Centre sits within four heritage buildings at Newington Armory providing administration offices, an extensive bird book library, education room and interpretation facilities for Birds Australia projects.

The adjoining Reserve is a haven of significant environmental value including bird habitats, and the facility is the centrepiece of Birds Australia's engagement with the community, providing education about biodiversity and the value of birds and their habitats.
