The museum of Australia's oldest, most decorated Regiment in the mainland's oldest (1820), heritage listed barracks. Trace the evolution of the weaponry, uniforms and equipment of the NSW Cavalry and famed Light Horse - from horses and lances through machine guns and tanks to contemporary armoured reconnaissance.

Through photographs, maps, manuscripts and memorabilia the collection illustrates the Regiment's ceremonial and battle roles. A detachment formed part of the mounted escort for Queen Victoria's Jubilee procession in 1897. Lancers were the first Australian troops to see action in the Boer War in 1899. As part of the Light Horse, the Regiment fought at Gallipoli and in Palestine in WW1, and in WW2 formed Australia's largest ever armoured assault in Borneo.

View one of Australia's best Boer War collections, including handwritten first known versions of Banjo Patterson war poems; clamber over the collection of vintage armoured vehicles, including a 50-ton Centurion tank.
