Though the name 'Ironman' might have taken Hollywood's superhero world by storm, sports lovers take the word Ironman very differently. As you may know, Ironman tournaments are a gruelling challenge for any enthusiastic athlete to compete in, and are held all over the world.
If you love the thrill of trying to prove yourself physically, this May is the perfect opportunity for you to book a contemporary Noosa hotel and check out the Noosa Ultimate Sports Festival.
Established by the renowned Ironman brand, the Noosa Ultimate Sports Festival is a multi-race event which is open for the entire family. The locals will be coming down in droves, but that doesn't mean you can't hop on a plane and get there as well. In fact, why not make it a part of your next holiday? As every Southerner know, Noosa is a fantastic place to visit, featuring a sub-tropical climate and a range of great natural tourist attractions.
Before we get into any tourist information, however, let's take a look at what the festival has in store for intrepid athletes.
Zinc 96.1 Swim Noosa is the ultimate ocean event for hardened swimmers and enthusiastic doggy paddlers alike. What's even better, each of the four races are different lengths, meaning there is something for everyone.
"Mix the ultimate holiday destination with an Ultimate Sports Festival by booking resort accommodation in Noosa this May."
Everybody is always saying that people should cycle more - better for the environment, fitness etc. What better way to test yourself in the sport than by taking part in the Subaru Cycle Noosa event? There are two races to choose from, though each is more suited to the fitter among you.
As an addition to the 160-kilometre race, you could also try the King of the Hill Challenge. Whoever is fastest up the 3-kilometre slope (which rises 100 metres) at Cootharaba Road will win a prize.
The following day is the big running event. Whether you want to push yourself, lightly jog or simply walk, one of the three different racing events on the Sunday is likely for you. Each event begins at the festival's HQ at Lion's Park, and progresses down Noosa Parade, offering pleasant riverfront views along the way.
Noosa, located only an hour and a half north of Brisbane, is perfectly situated on Queensland's aptly named Sunshine Coast. If you won't be driving, there is a local airport nearby (about 20 minutes away) which has regular flights from all of the major Australian capitals.
As for your Noosa holiday accommodation, look no further than Mantra French Quarter. Racegoers won't just be able to benefit from the hotel's location, which is literally across the road from where Swim Noosa starts, but also the range of modern facilities here. The swimming pool is a great place to practise a little before your races, and the sauna and spa facilities should be your first stop after the big day to relax, unwind and let your muscles rest.
