Experience Australia's biggest Christmas concert

Celebrate Christmas with Sydney carols

Nothing says 'Christmas' quite like carols, and Woolworths Carols in the Domain is quite possibly the best Australian Christmas carol celebration on offer.

The largest free Christmas concert in Australia is taking place on Saturday 20 December 2014 at Sydney's Domain Royal Botanic Gardens, so if you're in the area and are wondering what to do in Sydney to celebrate the festive season without breaking the bank this is a great option. This year celebrates the 32nd anniversary of Carols in the Domain, which will be broadcast live on the Seven Network and on smoothfm in Sydney and Melbourne.

The timetable

Arrive at midday to make the most of this spectacular day out, and dine out on some of the tasty food available onsite. By 3pm you'll start to enjoy some action on the stage before the big show begins, and at 8:30pm the Woolworths Carols in the Domain Concert comes alive! This timeframe gives you plenty of opportunity to sit back in the sun, have a drink and a dance and sing along to all your favourite Christmas songs. It's the perfect family day out, but if you're in the city on your own don't panic - you're bound to come away from the festive event with a whole bunch of new friends. As the event comes to a close at 11pm, find your way home or carry on into the city to keep the Christmas spirit alive.

The lineup

This year's lineup is rock solid, appealing to all ages and interests. Glamazon Samantha Jade is returning to the event with a bigger profile than ever before. See her take the stage this year to perform a carol that is particularly close to her heart - but whatever will it be?

2013 X Factor winner Dami Im will also grace the stage, following on from her number one single "Alive" and number one self-titled album. With songs such as "Super Love" and "Gladiator" under her belt, Dami brings real star power to the stage - plus she's a huge hit with the kids!

Your little ones will be delighted when The Wiggles take to the stage, ready to bring their special blend of adventure, music and excitement to a massive audience. Australia's favourite children's entertainment act will no doubt play their Christmas favourites such as "Go Santa Go" and "Here Come the Reindeer". Keep your eyes peeled for Emma, the first female Wiggle, and favourites such as Dorothy the Dinosaur, Wag the Dog, Captain Feathersword and Henry the Octopus.

Icon of the stage and screen Jay Laga'aia is preparing to entertain the masses with his beautiful voice and friendly spirit. The performer loves kids and has his own kids' TV show, Jay's Jungle, set to premier in 2015, and will no doubt bring plenty of fun and laughter to the stage.

Getting there

Public transport is the best way to get to and from the concert, as the roads can get quite congested with so many people travelling for the event. Bring seating and picnic rugs, a hat and sunscreen, but leave your tents, glass products and pets at home.

There's plenty of food and drink available onsite, and you can bring in your own refreshments.
