Catch a performance of theatre show The Suit in Adelaide

See the show, the Suit, in Adelaide this October.

There's nothing quite like the sensation of sitting in a dark theatre, waiting for the curtains to draw back and the lights to illuminate the stage. There's always a great sense of anticipation, excitement and a feeling that anything could happen.

Adelaide is well known for its theatrical wonders, which is why you should make sure you see a show if you're visiting this wonderful city. One of the highlights coming up in October is 'The Suit', being performed by the State Theatre Company, in association with Arts Projects Australia and Adelaide Festival Centre.

The first performance will be Australia's premiere, directed by the legendary Peter Brook in collaboration with Marie-Hélène Estienne and Franck Krawczyk. The season is running from October 1 to 12 at the Dunstan Playhouse, which is located along King William Street. There are both matinee and evening performances available, with tickets ranging from $30 to $66.

If you haven't heard of The Suit before, the theatrical show is based upon a book of the same name written by Can Themba. It has a fascinating history, having been banned in the author's native country of South Africa due to the politics of the apartheid.

The story is set in a 1950s South African town. A young man comes home to discover his wife cheating on him, and the lover flees from the scene leaving behind a suit. As a strange form of revenge, the husband forces his wife to treat the man's suit as a house guest. While she is tortured by this cruel and unusual form of punishment, he is faced with his own insecurities and disappointments.

Both humourous and heart-wrenching, this story entertains, touches and moves audiences around the world. Featuring talented performers, a wonderful stage set-up and atmospheric music, it's one show that shouldn't be missed, whether you're a regular theatre goer or not.

"Adelaide is well known for its theatrical wonders, which is why you should make sure you see a show if you're visiting this wonderful city. "
