Experience a Winter Wonderland in Brisbane this June and July.Fun for the whole family at Snow4Kids in Brisbane

Who says Brisbane can't experience a little snow of its own in winter? While the city is known for its balmy temperatures even during the cooler season, the fun and family-friendly Snow4Kids event lets everyone in Brisbane experience a veritable Winter Wonderland.

Here's some more information about the event and how you and the family can get involved.

Snow4Kids in Brisbane this June and July

The Snow4Kids Festival is kicking off in Brisbane on June 28 and will run until July 13 at the Brisbane River Stage in the Brisbane Botanical Gardens.

This part of the city is transformed with snow and a whole lot of festive spirit, so come along and build a snow man, play around in the ice and enjoy fun-filled and thrilling snowball fights.

Best of all, entry into the snow park is free, though some special activities charge a small fee. To cover these costs you can purchase an 'All in One' ticket for $30, which grants access to all the various attractions.

One highlight of the event is the Silly Snow Man Show, which is fun, interactive and educational. With the hilarious characters Silly Billy and Silly Gilly performing up to 10 times a day, your little ones will be spellbound by their festive antics and special effects. They'll even get the chance to have their photo taken with the wintry figures.

Then there's the Snow Ball Throwing Arena. Think you have what it takes to win a snowball fight? Head to this specially designated area where you'll receive over 20 fresh and powdery snow balls to aim at various targets for a fun and safe experience. If you want to challenge your friends and family, then head into the Snow Dome, where you can all play together.

The Toboggan Slope is another exciting attraction made from real snow. Feel the thrill as you zoom down the slopes with the wind in your hair.

Then top it all off by building a snow man, with buckets of fresh snow supplied by the park, with all the added fun accessories you need to make your snowy figure just right.

Food and beverages are available throughout the snow park, or you can bring a picnic along for the whole family to enjoy. Make sure you and the kids rug up in warm clothes, however. While the outside air might still be warm, the snow is cold, wet and slippery, so dress appropriately and wear a pair of shoes with good grip.

Remember, while there are snow park staff on hand, kids need to be supervised by an adult throughout the day. Certain attractions, such as the toboggan slope, have age restrictions for safety reasons.

Access the snow park via South Bank or the Brisbane Botanical Gardens entrance. The attractions will be open from 9.00 am until 4.00 pm each day of the festival, with the last sessions and entries at 3.30 pm.
