3 things to remember when you're moving

Here are 3 tasks to ensure you have completed before you move3 things to remember when you're moving

Moving cities can be a big undertaking, and there are so many things to organise. Despite your greatest efforts, there might be a few things you forget or that drop to the bottom of your list when you're busy preparing to move.

However, if you forget a couple of the majors you could cause yourself some unnecessary stress. Make sure these following tasks don't slip your mind.

1 - Redirect your mail

Remember to redirect your mail to your new address! Not only could you miss out on some important mail if you don't, failing to redirect your mail could annoy the next person who lives at your previous home.

Be thorough in changing your address by contacting the relevant organisations with the change, such as your bank and various government agencies. For anything that might slip through the cracks, organising a mail redirect at your post office will do just the trick.

2 - Notify your service providers

As you will not longer be paying the electricity or water bills for your old home, you will need to call your utility providers to ensure they are aware of your final date of occupation and if there will be anybody dwelling at the location after you. Then they can accurately bill your final account. You may also need to cancel your phone and internet plan.

You may also need to set up new accounts for your new city.

3 - Alert your insurance company

If you have contents insurance, you will need to notify your chosen company to transfer your policy to your new dwelling. You could also choose a new policy depending on your needs and the items you will be taking with you.

Having these bases covered will help save you from being caught short when you move.

Consider Live@Mantra for your long term accommodation needs if you are moving to a new city.
