Brisbane hosts semifinal showdown for Fed Cup
Brisbane's Pat Rafter Arena is set to see some exhilarating action over the upcoming Easter weekend of April 19-20, as Australia and Germany face off in the battle for the Fed Cup. This is definitely one of the biggest events in Brisbane for tennis fans, so if you want to secure your seats court side you might want to act fast.
Presented by BNP Paribas, the Fed Cup is the world's largest annual international team competition for women's tennis. It was first launched in 1963 with 16 countries competing, but those numbers have grown considerably today. A total of 97 nations participated in last year's competition and this year is set to be even better, as the Easter weekend semifinal is hosted on Australian soil.
This won't be the first time Australia and Germany have battled to win the highly prized Fed Cup. The two countries have clashed a total of 12 times before in this international competition, but Australia has the upper hand with a total of eight wins and four losses over the previous matches.

Local fans will be hoping our tennis stars Down Under can repeat these same successes when the Fed Cup semifinal takes over the Pat Rafter Arena. The coveted title hasn't been won by an Australian team in 40 years, so this year's side (led by captain Alicia Molik) will have to pull out all the stops if they're going to prevail.
With players such as world number 16 Sam Stosur, Casey Dellacqua and Ashleigh Barty all at the top of their game, this could be a great opportunity for the Aussies to take home the long-awaited gold. If you want to be there to catch all of the action yourself, make sure you've got your tickets and holiday accommodation organised.
