Take the kids to the National Dinosaur Museum

Don't forget to take your GPS away on your Queensland family holidayTake the kids to the National Dinosaur Museum.

What's the only thing that can be as fascinating to kids as the Easter Bunny, Santa and the Tooth Fairy put together?

Dinosaurs.

And somewhat unlike the above three idols of youth, there's a place you can go to visit the dinosaurs, in Canberra's National Dinosaur Museum.

As Australia's largest permanent dinosaur and prehistoric collection, this is the place to go if you want to take the kids on a holiday where you'll be able to get them involved in history, and they'll enjoy the lesson to boot.

You can book in your stay at the centrally located Mantra on Northbourne where you will be able to easily access this attraction, and plenty of other activities in the capital city.

"If you're heading to Canberra for a family holiday you should head to the National Dinosaur Museum for a great way to teach the kids some history while keeping them happy."

There are 12 new animatronic dinosaurs in the exhibition, and the scarily lifelike dinosaur garden is a great way to enjoy a hands-on opportunity to get out and play with the prehistoric beasts - photos and videos are a must!

You'll also be able to touch some rare and ancient items at the museum, as it is home to both a genuine fossilised dinosaur bone and a remnant of a 100kg meteorite.

A visit to the museum won't put you out of pocket either, as you can take the kids for under $10 each, or if they are still under the age of four they will get in for free. You can alternatively pick up a family pass for $40 for two adults and two kids - which will leave some cash left over for a visit to the giftshop!

The museum is open daily 10am to 5pm, and is open public holidays so you can head along on your day off.
