From its humble beginnings as a local film festival at Balmain High School, Flickerfest has grown by leaps and bounds to become Australia's leading competitive International Short Film Festival.
"Since 2003, Flickerfest has been recognised as a qualifying event for the Best Short Film and Best Animation categories at the Oscars, so you never know what future award winner you might get a glimpse of in 2014.
Filmmakers from all around the globe vie for a coveted spot on the programme, and it's no surprise why as it is Australia's only Academy Award accredited and BAFTA recognised festival.

Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd and her team of experienced judges have received over 2,000 submissions for the 2014 event, so they had some serious culling to do to get it down to the 100 limit for the final cut.
