If you're wondering what to do in Sydney this summer, look no further than the famed shores of Bondi Beach.

Film buffs are in for a cinematic treat in as Flickerfest takes over the Bondi Pavilion. From January 10-19, audiences can enjoy a smorgasbord of the best short films from Australia and overseas as the festival comes back for its 23rd outing.

It's one of the most anticipated events in Sydney each year, so don't miss out on your opportunity to catch some future Academy Award winners as they showcase their stuff. With plenty of holiday accommodation in the area such as Mantra 2 Bond Street, planning your holiday is even easier.

All about Flickerfest

From its humble beginnings as a local film festival at Balmain High School, Flickerfest has grown by leaps and bounds to become Australia's leading competitive International Short Film Festival.


"Since 2003, Flickerfest has been recognised as a qualifying event for the Best Short Film and Best Animation categories at the Oscars, so you never know what future award winner you might get a glimpse of in 2014.


Filmmakers from all around the globe vie for a coveted spot on the programme, and it's no surprise why as it is Australia's only Academy Award accredited and BAFTA recognised festival.

Since 2003, Flickerfest has been recognised as a qualifying event for the Best Short Film and Best Animation categories at the Oscars, so you never know what future award winner you might get a glimpse of in 2014.

Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd and her team of experienced judges have received over 2,000 submissions for the 2014 event, so they had some serious culling to do to get it down to the 100 limit for the final cut.

Look out for the powerful film Vote Yes from director Nick Waterman, which has already been pre-selected for the 2014 program. Set in 1967, this must-watch follows the story of one family as they navigate the changes in Aboriginal rights following the Australian referendum.

Tickets for this outdoor cinema extravaganza go on sale December 14, so make sure you've got your spots sorted.
