Take a picnic along to enjoy the return of The Wind in the Willows

Take a picnic along to enjoy the return of The Wind in the Willows. Treat your kids to theatre in the park as The Wind in the Willows returns

From January 4-25, one of the most popular and well-loved children's events in Sydney returns as the Australian Shakespeare Company brings The Wind in the Willows to life.

If you're wondering what to do in Sydney with your kids over the summer, a trip to the Royal Botanic Gardens is well worth it to catch this amazing production live.

Your kids will love seeing the adventures of Toad, Ratty, Mole and Badger as they live their life on the riverbank, with the interactive performance urging the audience to get in on all the fun.

When it comes to holiday accommodation, nearby Mantra 2 Bond Street is ideal if you're looking to make the most of this special outdoor theatre show. It's located just 1.2km from the Royal Botanic Garden and close to other attractions such as Circular Quay, the Museum of Contemporary Art and more.

The Wind in the Willows production makes the rounds in Sydney and Melbourne each year, but 2014 is an especially great time to catch the production as it marks the 27th anniversary of this outstanding show.

The performance is great for children of all ages and even the grown ups can rest assured they won't be nodding off in the middle of the programme. Rousing songs, talented actors and a great story based on Kenneth Grahame's much loved children's classic ensure you're in for a rollicking good time.

As an outdoor show, there are a few things you'll want to bring with you. Some sunscreen is essential, and a mat or some chairs to get comfortable in wouldn't go astray either.

Make sure to bring a picnic basket full of goodies for the whole family, so you can settle back and enjoy the production in style. Tickets are priced at $25 per person or $90 for a family of four, with shows every Tuesday-Saturday at 11am and 6pm.
