Spend your holiday in the natural wonders of Tropical North Queensland

Experience the natural wonders of Tropical North Queensland. Spend your summer in the natural wonders of Tropical North Queensland

The Tropical North Queensland region of Australia is home to some of the country's most wild and wonderful natural landmarks, from the majestic Great Barrier Reef to the beauty of the Daintree Rainforest.

If you're looking for a summer escape with a twist, head to this picturesque area to experience all the natural wonders in this part of the country and take a break from the hustle and bustle of your everyday routine.

Experience the Great Barrier Reef

The reef is one of Australia's best known attractions and with good reason, as there's nothing quite like it.

Jewel-toned cerulean waves stretch out across 3,000km off the Queensland coast, home to a riotous rainbow of coral and teeming with various fish and marine mammal species.

The reef houses the world's largest collection of corals with over 400 different kinds on display under the water - and luckily for visitors, a wide variety of tour operators, vessels and aircraft cruise the waves daily offering a unique chance to experience the reef up close.

Depending on the tour package you choose, you can speed along the water in a glass-bottomed boat, or stop off at prime diving and snorkelling locations to experience the reef in a whole new way.

Experienced guides will keep you safe and help you learn more about the stunning environment that surrounds you, and some tours will even take you to secluded islands on the outer edge where you can stretch your legs and experience your own 'private' island for a day!

Take a day trip to an island

If you want to experience something different, why not take a day trip out to one of the many islands dotted throughout the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park?

Green Island is located just off the Cairns coastline, a 45 minute sail across the Coral Sea. This 6,000-year-old coral cay has plenty of colourful flora and fauna to see and is the only island of its kind to have a rainforest growing on top of it - definitely a unique snapshot for your holiday album!

Fitzroy Island is another great option for a day trip, 29km from Cairns' coast. Take a leisurely stroll along the walking track up to the summit, and get a great view from the lighthouse as the sun sets - the perfect ending to your summer holiday.

Mantra has plenty of Cairns holiday accommodation to choose from, so once you've spent a full day out on the island you can come back to a relaxing and spacious suite at Mantra Esplanade or Mantra Trilogy.

Splash around at Palm Cove

If warm ocean waves, white sandy beaches and coconut palms are more your thing, a visit to Palm Cove is essential.

This family-friendly beach is regularly patrolled by lifeguards and offers warm water all year round - although summer is definitely the time to make the most of this tropical hideaway.

Offering a lush natural backdrop to your summer vacation, Palm Cove is perfect for families looking to escape from the daily grind. The beach is a great place to practice your swimming or surfing technique, and a variety of wildlife including rainbow lorikeets, cockatoos and doves flock to the area.

Whether you want to lie out on the beach and splash around in the waves, trek through rainforest or feast on exquisite local cuisine, Palm Cove has something for everyone.
