All about Broome
Broome is known as the 'pearl of the north' by many due to the abundance of South Sea pearls found in the area. These distinctive cultured pearls played an important economic role in the town, so if you're there for a visit it's a good opportunity to take a trip out to a local pearl farm and see the process for yourself.
The town of Broome is also a great launch-pad for those wanting to explore the remote and beautiful Kimberley region. It is praised as one of the last great wildernesses, with fewer people per square kilometre than almost any other place in the world.
Broome is also home to Cable Beach, known for its 22km of white sands and stunning coastline. To catch the area at its best, try taking a camel safari tour along the beach in the morning, or just before or during the sunset. If you're seeking convenient holiday accommodation nearby, Mantra Frangipani in Broome is located within walking distance of Cable Beach.
Another must-see natural attraction in the Broome region is the Staircase to the Moon, which appears when a full moon coincides with an extremely low tide at Roebuck Bay. The moonlight shining over the exposed mudflats in the bay creates the optical illusion of a set of stairs leading up to the moon itself - definitely a sight not to miss if you happen to be there at the right time. It only occurs during three nights from March to October, so make sure to plan your trip accordingly!

Experience the best of Broome
Hop on board a hovercraft and take a tour around Broome's coastline and Roebuck Bay, taking in all of the sights along the way. Walk along the tidal flats and explore the nearby Flying Boat Wrecks, and see the 130 million year old dinosaur footprints visible at very low tides on Gantheaume Point - a scenic prehistoric experience that's not to be missed!
The Horizontal Falls are a stunning natural phenomenon found within Talbot Bay in the Buccaneer Archipelago - this is the only place in the world where you'll see a waterfall that flows horizontally! Powerful tidal currents clash with two costal gorges and the 'waterfall' effect is created as water churns between the two cliffs.
While you're here, take advantage of all the scenic wonders on offer with flights and air safaris travelling around the region. See the Kimberley coast from up high, drift over Cape Leveque or take an aerial tour over Tunnel Creek, Geike Gorge and other natural landmarks in the area.
Last but not least, if you're a fishing enthusiast you have to check out the waters around Broome. Teeming with all kinds of fish from the famous Barramundi to Spanish Mackerel and Thread Fin Salmon, there's plenty to catch. Hire out your own boat or consider a heli-fishing tour to get you into those really remote spots.
Explore the Coral Coast
As a thriving city on the Coral Coast, Geraldton also has plenty of options for dive enthusiasts. The nearby Abrolhos Islands feature over 100km of ocean, filled with great fishing, dive spots and beautiful coral gardens. Windsurfing and kitesurfing are also popular activities in the area.
Mantra Geraldton is a perfect base for your holiday here, right on the edge of the Champion Bay Marina.
