The Johann Strauss Orchestra carries on this aim with enthusiastic musicians having fun with the classical pieces. The orchestra began with only 12 members in 1987, but that figure has grown to between 50 and 60 today, and they are an integral part of the Andre Rieu experience.

Andre Rieu

Born in the Netherlands in 1949, Rieu grew up immersed in classical music from a very early age. His father was a professional conductor and Rieu's first lessons in the violin began at the tender age of five.

He continued to develop his skills throughout the years, eventually founding his very first orchestra in 1978 called the Maastricht Salon Orchestra.

From the 1980s onwards, with the Johann Strauss Orchestra, Rieu released several albums of his favourite classical pieces that enjoyed significant chart success and catapulted him to even greater fame.

Today, the 'Modern King of Waltz' continues to delight and amaze audiences all around the world.
