Brisbane will come alive at its annual festival in September. Brisbane Festival

The Brisbane Festival is a popular and exciting carnival that encompasses many events, performances and attractions over three weeks.

From September 7-28 this year, the city will come alive with colour and energy through its calendar of comedies, artistic performances, sights, sounds and theatre.

To get amongst the heart of it all, book in your Brisbane accommodation at Mantra on Queen or Mantra South Bank. Both of these hotels are located in the centre of the events, so you'll be able to walk right out the front door and on to your destination without worrying about transport in this bustling city.

Festival-goers of all ages will love the Santos GLNG City of Lights attraction occurring nightly at the South Bank Cultural Forecourt. It's a fusion of lights, lasers and special effects by Tony Assness, creative director for live events throughout Australia, as well as John Rayment and Glenn Turner, lighting and water designers respectively. Head along for a free show matched to an original soundtrack.

For a change of pace, check out one of the performance groups coming to Brisbane for the Festival. URBAN is an assembly of dancers and singers from Colombia and the United Kingdom who originally performed their 75-minute show as part of CircusFest, but now travel the world wowing audiences and wooing crowds. The act can only be described as Hip-Opera and is scheduled in for most nights throughout the festival.

If theatre is your thing, there's plenty on offer to delight and entertain such as the Twelfth Night-inspired 'I, Malvolio' in its Australian premiere, or the Queensland premiere of 'Fight the Landlord', a production involving panda suits, friends and Chinese playing cards.

There is really something for all ages and all tastes at the Brisbane Festival - all you have to do is plan your trip!
