South Australia's crowning glory: Royal Adelaide Show

Posted By Holly On September 2, 2013

Produce and innovations for the adults, fun rides for the kids - there's something for everyone at the Royal Adelaide Show. South Australia's crowning glory: Royal Adelaide Show

Adelaide is a gem of the south and every year the best of the city pulls together for the annual Royal Adelaide Show.

From September 6-14, the festival will offer visitors the chance to feed farm animals, experience the thrill of carnival rides, see what's new at the technology display, enter competitions and try out some of the tasty treats on offer.

Crowd favourite trail of exhibitions, the Yellow Brick Road, is back again for its 28th year and will likely see several thousand people wander through its fantastic pathway. Agricultural and horticultural groups will be in their usual spots on the road, alongside a collection of stalls from the Royal Society for the Blind, the Salvation Army and plenty of fresh produce suppliers. This year, the number of visitors to the road is expected to reach the half-million mark.

While you pick up some bargains on fresh produce and try some local wines, you can keep the kids happy with the promise of a visit to the children's rides.

Just north of the show's Jubilee Pavilion, the kids' play area offers children up to the age of seven a place to seek some thrills and try out some age-appropriate rides. They can try the Scooby Doo Mystery Machine, the Kids Train, the Mini Wave Swinger or the Giant Slide, among other thrills.

You'll need more than just the one day to see everything at the show, so why not plan a holiday in the city and see a few extra sights over the duration of the week?

There are great accommodation options like centrally-located Mantra Hindmarsh Square and Mantra on Frome so you can easily work your way around the attractions in this great city.
