Have a cycling adventure with the Far North Wilderness Bike Tour. Ride for a cause with the Far North Wilderness Bike Tour

The Far North Wilderness Bike Tour will be trekking through amazing landscapes and beautiful scenery in Queensland's far north, perfect for those looking for a Cairns getaway with a twist.

Taking participants on an incredible eight-day cycling adventure, this bike tour is a unique way to see some of the best sights in the region, all from the back of a bicycle.

Registrations are open for the event now, but spots are limited to a maximum of 65 riders - so it's best to secure your place now before they're all gone!

After this long journey you'll definitely want to rest up, and Mantra has plenty of holiday apartments and hotels in Cairns to choose from such as Mantra Trilogy.

Here's what you can expect if you come along for the ride from September 28 - October 5.

What's it all about?

Participants will not only be in for eight days of adventure, they'll also be cycling for a good cause.

The Far North Wilderness Bike Tour is a charity event in support of the Cairns and Far North Environment Centre, which is a non-government organisation dedicated to preserving the environment in the region.

The centre focuses on a variety of areas, including planning and development, marine conservation, sustainability and climate change, mining and wildlife issues.

For those interested in a more active Cairns break, the Far North Wilderness Bike Tour is ideal.

Where will the ride take us?

The tour spans over 500km of mostly dirt roads in remote areas. You'll pass by waterfalls, gorges, rainforest and lush Australian countryside in an friendly group of just 65 riders.

Fresh home-cooked meals and snacks will be provided along the way and you'll stay at various campsites along the route. This year, the tour includes two nights at the heritage-listed Yourka station where you can camp by lagoons and swim in pools above the falls at the Herbert River Gorge.
