Embrace the arts at the Adelaide Fringe Festival

Enjoy the Adelaide Fringe Festival

Enjoying the Adelaide Fringe Festival is easier than ever thanks to the event's partnership with Mantra, providing guests with exclusive deals on holiday accommodation in Adelaide. This means you can not only enjoy every day of the festival to the fullest, but have a restful break at night in your comfortable and well-appointed accommodation.

As for the festival itself, you'll be spoiled for choice. The annual open-access arts event is spread across a whopping four weeks in the South Australian capital this February and March, providing plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in the action.

Festival layout

The Adelaide Fringe Festival has an open-access format, which differs from a curated festival in that anyone who has an item, show, exhibition or event to present is welcome to register and take part in the largest arts event in the country. It's not just Australian performers and artists who take part either, as acts from all around the world flock to take part each year. You can expect art forms such as dance, comedy, film, cabaret, comedy, music, theatre, circus, design and visual arts, with more than 900 events taking place in warehouses, laneways, parks and empty buildings throughout Adelaide. Alongside these pop-up venues are more established arts locations such as galleries, town halls, theatres and more.

What makes Fringe so special?

Adelaide's own Fringe is a bit different to others of its kind around the world, as it offers plenty of free events alongside its ticketed open-access program. This means more people than ever can access the events, creating a carnival atmosphere throughout Adelaide. The Fringe Parade, Fringe Street Theatre Festival and Rundle Mall's Fringe Funhouse are all vibrant, free events that completely consume the city in festival fun. Plus, the 13 February to 15 March duration means there's plenty of time to soak it all up!

This year's program

This year's line up is absolutely huge, with everything from a Bob Dylan and Neil Young tribute act through to Wobbles the Clown entertaining the younger audience members. Don't miss Big Band Burlesque, which features live music from Capitol Swing and a saucy array of burlesque dancers to light up the stage.

Cirque de Gymnastique is another act to keep your eye on, with performance gymnastics sure to enchant audiences of all ages. Cirque de Gymnastique SA has produced a show at every Fringe since 2006, and plenty of Fringe veterans will be taking the stage again this year to perform innovative and daring routines.

Get your music fix with Bondi Cigars, who have released nine albums to date and are critically and commercially acclaimed.
