Do you believe in ghosts? You may after braving a Lantern Ghost Tour on Australia's Gold Coast.

Join 29 others (or 14 of your friends and family, if you book a private tour) on a spooky, lantern-lit stroll around some of the Gold Coast's most haunted areas.

Lantern Ghost Tours is owned and operated by Certified Paranormal Investigator Jacqueline Travaglia, who started the company in 2009.

Since then, the business has accumulated many experienced 'ghost hosts' to run tours and been nominated for and won copious awards, including the Hobsons Bay Business Excellence Tourism Award in 2011.

One of the company's most popular tours is the Old Surfer's Paradise Ghost Tour, which started operating in 2012. This gives you the opportunity to peek behind the dazzling, glamorous veil of the Gold Coast's tourism and entertainment centre to discover its historic dark underbelly - and hopefully meet a few ghosts while you're at it!

But that's not all. Lantern Ghost Tours has plenty of other creepy encounters for you to experience. And when you're all scared-out, Mantra has many fright-free hotels, resorts and holiday apartments on the Gold Coast for you to stay and relax in. So why not make a weekend of it?

Another highly regarded Lantern Ghost Tour departs every Saturday from Southport General Cemetery.

This tour promises to make you better acquainted with the cemetery's permanent residents - a fascinating (and frightening!) array of murderers, bodysnatchers, John and Jane Does. You will take a guided walk among the graves and discover some of the many secrets long laid to rest within them. We hear that it's bad luck to visit a cemetery at night - but it's definitely a good place to encounter spirits.

Prices for the tours range from $25 to $40 per adult (depending on whether you want to make a delicious two-course dinner at Fiddlers Green part of your supernatural experience), and are $17 per child.
