If you're a bit of a golfing enthusiast, the Gold Coast is one of the best family holiday destinations in Australia.

Home to a number of top-ranked courses, you and your family will be spoiled for choice when it comes to hitting the green and sinking a few hole-in-ones.

Here are just a few of the top golf courses worth a visit on your Gold Coast family holiday.

The Glades Golf Club

Featuring a course designed by Australia's own champion golfing icon Greg Norman, the Glades Golf Club features a Par 72 championship course spanning 65 hectares of fairways and greens.

This is definitely not one for the amateurs as it has a total of 98 bunkers and other challenges, but it is an undeniably beautiful course with nine hectares of wetland area acting as a natural wildlife sanctuary within the course itself.

Links Hope Island Golf Course

Another one of the finest courses to be found on the Gold Coast, the Hope Island golf course is located a quick drive away from Mantra Sun City, one of Mantra's holiday apartments in Surfers Paradise.

It's also a Par 72 course, requiring some careful strategic thinking on the part of players to avoid the 128 pot-style bunkers and other man-made and natural hazards that can be found dotted around the holes.

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club

Featuring two different courses - The Pines and The Palms - Sanctuary Cove has a lot to offer golfing fans.

The Pines golf course is the only Arnold Palmer Signature course in Australia and features a challenging layout, with fourteen holes designed around six man-made lakes.

The Palms golf course has recently been redeveloped by Ross Watson and reopened in 2011 - a championship course designed to suit a range of playing conditions and skill levels.
