If you're a bit of a golfing enthusiast, the Gold Coast is one of the best family holiday destinations in Australia.

Home to a number of top-ranked courses, you and your family will be spoiled for choice when it comes to hitting the green and sinking a few hole-in-ones.

Here are just a few of the top golf courses worth a visit on your Gold Coast family holiday.

The Glades Golf Club

Featuring a course designed by Australia's own champion golfing icon Greg Norman, the Glades Golf Club features a Par 72 championship course spanning 65 hectares of fairways and greens.

This is definitely not one for the amateurs as it has a total of 98 bunkers and other challenges, but it is an undeniably beautiful course with nine hectares of wetland area acting as a natural wildlife sanctuary within the course itself.

"Featuring two different courses - The Pines and The Palms - Sanctuary Cove has a lot to offer golfing fans.

Links Hope Island Golf Course

Another one of the finest courses to be found on the Gold Coast, the Hope Island golf course is located a quick drive away from Mantra Sun City, one of Mantra's holiday apartments in Surfers Paradise.

It's also a Par 72 course, requiring some careful strategic thinking on the part of players to avoid the 128 pot-style bunkers and other man-made and natural hazards that can be found dotted around the holes.

Sanctuary Cove Golf and Country Club

Featuring two different courses - The Pines and The Palms - Sanctuary Cove has a lot to offer golfing fans.

The Pines golf course is the only Arnold Palmer Signature course in Australia and features a challenging layout, with fourteen holes designed around six man-made lakes.

The Palms golf course has recently been redeveloped by Ross Watson and reopened in 2011 - a championship course designed to suit a range of playing conditions and skill levels.
