Are you ready to be entertained? There's nothing like that special moment just before the curtain starts to rise and the dark quiet of a theatre is full of tension, awaiting the moment when the show is to begin.

This August in Sydney, there are plenty of opportunities for you to experience the exhilarating thrills and rollercoaster of emotion that comes with opera. With both Rigoletto and Don Giovanni igniting the stage of the Sydney Opera House, you can get your fix of all the songs, theatrics and emotions you could desire.

Here's a run down of these two operas and how you can see them in Sydney in the following weeks.

Rigoletto

See Rigoletto, a famous Verdi opera, which is running until August 24. This wonderful new production draws from a global cast, with Renato Palumbo and Anthony Legge conducting at the helm and Roger Hodgman directing all the action.

Discover the beguiling story of the Duke's palace, the surrounding streets of Mantua and their colliding worlds, with passion, suspense and intrigue abundant throughout the opera's every minute.

The cast of this opera truly shines and will blow you away with sheer talent. Don't miss enjoying an evening out in the stunning location of the Sydney Opera House witnessing these awe-inspiring performances. The show runs for two hours and 20 minutes with one interval, so you can really make a night of it.

Don Giovanni

Don Giovanni is taking the grand stage of the Sydney Opera House by storm until August 30, so there is still time to experience this seductive story.

The story follows the drama and tragedy of the final days of Don Giovanni, a 'Casanova' type character who finds his life catching up with him. Intense and both tragic and comic, the cast truly occupies their characters in this production full of brooding and drama.

Conducted by Jonathan Darlington and directed by one of opera's most forward-thinking visionaries, Sir David McVicar, you can be sure this is one spectacular production. On stage, Teddy Tahu Rhodes truly is Don Giovanni, with the power of his voice sure to blow you away.

With an emphasis on psychological tension, thrills and drama, you can expect the unexpected on a night out at Don Giovanni. The show runs for approximately three hours and 15 minutes, with a 25 minute interval.
