Are you a fan of smooth crooning voices, seductive sax music and general jazz culture? If so, you'd best make your way to Broadbeach on the Gold Coast this August for the Broadbeach Jazz Festival. Best of all? This festival is completely free, so you can unwind surrounded by good music without breaking the bank.

This is one of Australia's most-loved musical events and it always draws a huge crowd, much like Broadbeach's other music festivals for country and blues. With palpable excitement running through the suburb, it's the perfect time to appreciate the finer things in life, such as jazz music, fine dining and friends and loved ones.

This year, the acclaimed festival is taking place from August 15 to 17, and across the festival period you can enjoy various celebrated jazz artists performing in stunning locations throughout Broadbeach.

What to expect at the Broadbeach Jazz Festival

Get prepared to enjoy a wide range of jazz styles and artists over the festival weekend. There will be something for everybody to jive along to, young and old alike, so it's perfect for all kinds of travellers.

Kick things off on Friday night by catching a performance from the New Orleans Marching Band Swingers at Broadbeach Mall. This ensemble is made up of some of the Gold Coast's best jazz artists. Expect traditional jazz you know and love with a few modern influences to spice things up.

Another highlight will be seeing Rhonda Burchmore, Australia's leading cabaret and theatre artist, on August 16 at the Broadbeach Mall Stage with what's sure to be an incredible, show-stopping nighttime performance.

Don't miss the bold and brassy show from QYO Big Band on Saturday morning also at the Broadbeach Mall Stage, perfect to stop by on a morning walk with a coffee in hand.

Aaron West will offer another great performance at Alto Cucina and Bar on Saturday evening, with his soul, blues, funk and jazz-influenced sound earning him a solid following throughout Australasia and across the world.

Check out the events program, where you can see all the other artists and venues on offer. Day or night, there'll be a jazz gig to attend, so pick out some favourites and see as much as you can.
