There's nothing like sharing a meal with your loved one in a romantic restaurant that dishes up the best food and wine you can imagine.

Thankfully, Sydney knows how to deliver when it comes to serving couples in search of a romantic experience. Here are four of the city's best restaurants for you to savour with your other half.

A Tavola

The Italian-inspired A Tavola has been a staple in Darlinghurst since 2007, and recently opened another eatery in Bondi Beach.

If you're looking to reenact the famous Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene, this is the place to do it as the pasta dishes here are second to none. The pasta is made fresh and with lashings of authentic Italian passion, the decor is welcoming and intimate and the service is high quality.

The menu changes slightly each day depending on the fresh foods the masterful chef has whipped up, but expect great things.

Ananas Bar and Brasserie

Trade the Italian atmosphere for a little something French at Ananas Bar and Brasserie.

Head to 18 Argyle Street at The Rocks and start things off with a sumptuous bottle of Champagne, a signature cocktail or French wine. Soak in the 1920s-inspired decor of this historic building and enjoy the warm atmosphere.

Then sink your teeth into a delectable dish. Executive Chef Paul McGrath has come up with a classic French Mediterranean menu featuring a contemporary twist. Try the pan roasted pork cutlet with caramelised apples or navarin of braised lamb shoulder.

There's also a dedicated Oyster Bar on site for a real experience and indulgent treat - but don't forget to leave room for dessert. The pistachio and citrus creme brulee is divine, and it's also hard to go past the hazelnut and milk chocolate tart.

ARIA Restaurant

For that extra special occasion, head to ARIA, a hatted and award winning eatery at Circular Quay, right on the edge of Sydney Harbour. It blends stunning ocean views with beautiful interior design and decor, plus the best food and beverages you could ask for.

Owner, chef and restaurateur Matt Moran has crafted a menu that focuses on fresh and seasonal ingredients.

Start off with an entree dish like the spanner crab mayonnaise with pine nuts, graduate onto the Murray cod with mascarpone, try a lamb fillet with smoked rib and finish it all off with a decadent dessert such as the strawberry crumble souffle.

You and your loved one will adore these precisely cooked, expertly presented meals in the elegant and intimate setting.

Claire's Kitchen at Le Salon

Head to Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, for another foray into France with Claire's Kitchen. You'll be greeted by a hand-picked team of charming French waiters and waitresses who will make you feel instantly at ease.

Make yourselves comfortable at a cosy table for two set beneath dim, glowing lighting, and order up a velvety wine or cocktail. Decorated with gorgeous wall papers and a mix of antique and modern furniture, it's a beautiful place to while away and evening.

Be sure to try the 'Claire de Lune' signature cocktail, which is an indulgent mix of vodka, Creme Yvettes, lime, mint, raspberries and sparkling wine.

Sample a delicious three cheese souffle, roasted scallops or duck and Pinot Noir pie. Keep in mind there is a truly mouthwatering selection of cheese, served with baguette and grapes, on offer, plus a daily variety of desserts.

Indulge of one of these four delectable restaurants on a visit to Sydney. With a smorgasbord of delicious flavours, warm and romantic atmospheres and plenty of flowing Champagne and wine, you're sure to make a host of beautiful memories.
