If you love all things truffle-related, head to Canberra for The Truffle Festival, which is set to take place in Canberra and the Capital Region this June, July and August.

Foodies, chefs and lovers of this exotic ingredient will flock to the city to enjoy the truffle-centric activities and festivities.

Starting on June 21 and running until the end of August, the Truffle Festival acknowledges the local Black Perigord Truffle harvest, and a huge number of venues in the region will come to the party to celebrate.

From tastings and degustations to cooking classes and demonstrations, there all all sorts of exciting events taking place across the eight-week period.

Here's just a sample of the delights you can expect during your time in Canberra for the festival.

Once-in-a-lifetime experiences

The festival offers extravagant once-in-a-lifetime experiences, such as a weekend away with international celebrity chef and patron of this event, Antonio Carluccio.

You can book a package that involves getting away to the Emirates Wolgan Valley Resort & Spa, a luxurious and conservation-based resort, for a degustation, cooking demonstration and Q&A session with Antonio Carluccio. This is truly a not-to-be-missed experience that doesn't come around often, so foodies need to get in quick!

During your weekend away, the renowned chef will create an Italian-influenced truffle dish using regional, seasonal and organic produce for you, and you'll get the chance to see him in action and ask plenty of questions.

Not to mention, you'll be staying in a gorgeous suite featuring a private pool for two nights!

Learn how to hunt for and cook truffles

A number of the region's farms will be hosting 'truffle hunts' where you can take to the fields to search for the prized food yourself.

Once you've managed to find yourself some of these delicacies, you'll need to learn how to cook them!

Thankfully, there are plenty of demonstrations available to attend.

The cooking school 3seeds is hosting master cooking classes on June 29 and July 6, 13, 20 and 27 so you can master prepping and cooking truffles. Simple classes for kids are also on offer.

Le Tres Bon and its French chef Christophe Gregoire will also host truffle cooking classes featuring a lunch and great wine so you can further hone your skills.

Shop for the best

With truffles a relative rarity, make sure you use this festival period as a chance to stock up!

You can find fresh and delicious truffles at three local markets in the Canberra region. The Fyshwick Markets, the Capital Region Farmers Market and the Belconnen Fresh Food Markets will have stalls and cooking demonstrations on offer during the festival, giving you the chance to get your hands on some of the world's most delicious truffle delights.

Chat to the local farmers about the food and see if they have any tips on great wine to match your truffle-inspired dishes, as they are sure to have some fantastic suggestions.

Stay a while

Stay in Canberra for a while to make the most of this extended festival season. You'll get plenty of chances to gather, cook and eat truffles, an amazing opportunity for foodies everywhere.

Mantra on Northbourne is a wonderful, centrally-located hotel and serviced apartment complex, just one block away from the CBD and a stroll away from attractions including Parliament House and the War Memorial.

Its convenient location will make it easy for you to dash between dining experiences. Stay in a hotel room or a one- or two-bedroom apartment, which feature kitchenettes - perfect if you want to practise your truffle technique at any point.

Don't miss this great opportunity to learn about and taste plenty of truffles - it will be a truly mouthwatering experience.
