Experience country music in Queensland

Posted By Leanne On May 9, 2014

Head to Broadbeach this June for a country music extravaganza. Experience country music in Queensland

If you love the sound of twanging banjos and guitars, or love the sight of cowboy hats and boots, the Broadbeach Country Musical Festival should be on your calendar this year.

From June 20 to 22, Broadbeach on the Gold Coast will be visited by all things country and the fantastic music from both local and international acts is bound to be a highlight.

Billed as an event where "country meets the coast" you can expect the best fusion of the two lifestyles, from beachside activities to rural-inspired music and culture.

Best of all, the festival is completely free so all you need to do is wander down to the beach to be a part of the action. Don your cowboy boots and hat or be inspired by the shoreside location and head along with your swimmers. Whatever you wear, your toes are sure to be tapping to the great tunes in no time.

It all kicks off on the Friday afternoon at Broadbeach Mall at 3 p.m. with the Thor Phillips Band followed by Jonny Taylor, who will get the festival off to a rocking start. The night will finish with an awe-inspiring performance by Adam Harvey - but remember, Broadbeach Mall isn't the only stage or venue on offer! Check out the Surf Parade Stage, Grumpy's Barefoot Bar & Grill, Mario's Italian Restaurant, Oasis Shopping Centre and the Alto Cucina & Bar - plus plenty more! - for more music to get your up off your feet and square dancing in no time.

Just make sure you don't stay out too late on Friday night, because there are even more acts to enjoy on the Saturday and Sunday.

Head to the Surf Parade Stage at 12.30 p.m. on Saturday to enjoy Livi Robins, followed by the Hillbilly Goats. Later on in the afternoon you'll be treated to the country twang of Craig Woodward and the Lonely Dogs.

At the Envy Hotel venue you can enjoy entertainment from 1 p.m. onwards, including Liam Brew, the Brad Butcher Trio and The Viper Creek Band.

Sunday is jam-packed with sensational finger-clicking country sounds too, with highlights including Ashleigh Dallas, Kerry Kennedy and The Lamplights.

Expect a weekend full of wonderful music, as well as a great celebration of country culture. While you'll be trading barns and hay bales for the beach, the atmosphere will be second-to-none with the true spirit of country music on show. Then there's the bonus of being able to dip into the ocean to cool off or even head out on a surf while great music plays in the background - what could be better?

Perfect for all ages - and don't forget, free - the Broadbeach Country Musical Festival offers a great long weekend of entertainment for music lovers of all kinds. Bring the kids along or have a fun-filled trip with friends because anything goes!

Broadbeach is sure to be packed for this treasured event, so make sure to book your holiday accommodation in advance.

Stay right amongst the heart of the action with Mantra Broadbeach on the Park, just a short stroll from all your favourite country acts rocking the stages. There are one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments on offer, making it the perfect place for families, couples or singles heading to the festival. In case you need to need to wind down from a busy weekend of music and fun, you can always relax at the spa, sauna or steam room within the apartment complex.

This year's Broadbeach Country Musical Festival is sure to be an absolute hit, so saddle up and make sure you're there for the party!
