Some of Sydney's most stylish cafes

Posted By Leanne On May 5, 2014

Amongst the bustling metropolis of Sydney there are countless cafes and coffee shops to choose from. When you are presented with so many options it can be hard to know what to choose. We've taken some of the guesswork out of the process for you. Enjoy a coffee and slice of cake at one of these great stylish cafes.

Will & Co

If you're in Bondi during the weekends, you simply must stop by this sort-of-secret coffee establishment. Only open on Saturdays and Sundays, it's located at 3 Hall Street but is notoriously difficult to locate. Luckily, after you manage to track down the hidden doorway, the coffee and ambiance is well worth it. Enjoy a tasty breakfast or midday snack and enjoy the outdoor environment. You never know just what will be happening when you stop by, as the baristas test out new brews. You might just discover a new favourite drink. Don't stop by this cafe if the weather is bad, however. As it's only an outdoor space, they don't open if the weather's poor.

Marlowe's Way

This is another somewhat hard-to-find cafe that's more than worth the search. With a New York city street feel, you'll find it on the corner of Tank Stream Way and Bridge Lane in central Sydney. Its interior is full of eye-catching murals and dim atmospheric lighting, and the staff are always friendly and helpful. There's a great range of delicious coffee here and it's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a tasty menu. If you're eager to sit down and enjoy the cafe's ambiance, try to arrive at an off-peak time as seating and space is limited.

Hole in the Wall

The little Hole in the Wall is a must-visit thanks to its tasty Allopress espresso and its famously delectable sandwiches. Fresh ingredients packed between artisan bread makes for a wonderful lunch, and there's a great variety of salads and sweets too. Open from Monday to Friday, make your way to 229 Macquarie Street to find this hidden wonder. Whether you're after a morning pick-me-up for a sweet afternoon treat, the expert baristas and staff will exceed your expectations. One of the biggest drawcards of the weekend is the Green Market, which features over 100 exhibitors. Here, you can try organic beer and wine, as well as plenty of fresh food and produce. Gardening and building products and ethically-produced clothing will also be on offer, while environmental campaign groups will be there to engage in discussion.

Workshop Espresso

Right in the heart of central Sydney is Workshop Espresso, a tiny coffee shop that will more than satisfy your caffeine cravings. Its coffee has been met with rave reviews, so this means more and more punters are lining up for a shot of espresso gold. This is more of a take-away joint than a sit-down cafe, so it's a perfect spot to pick up a coffee if you're wandering the area. You'll find it at 500 George Street.

Bourke Street Bakery

If you're after devilishly naughty sweet treats, Bourke Street Bakery is the place to go. There are multiple stores in Surry Hills, Marrickville, Potts Point, Alexandria, Neutral Bay and North Sydney, so you'll be well within reach of a hot cup of coffee across the city. The bread and pastry menu is extensive, with goodies including strawberry meringue tarts, walnut and currant sourdough and raspberry and pear butter cake, amongst countless other tasty delights. If you're after hot food, try a pie, pizza, quiche or soup for a veritable taste sensation.

Koko Espresso

Head to Sydney's Surry Hills for a taste of Koko Espresso at 2/118 Devonshire Street. This is popular with locals and for good reason. Stop by for breakfast, lunch, coffee or a takeaway treat - and don't be afraid to stay awhile! With consistently well-reviewed coffee, this is one stylish, crowd-pleasing coffee spot in Sydney. If you're wondering what to do in Sydney on any given morning, head to one of these fantastic cafes, or try a new one every week. Stylish and delicious, you can expect great service, mouthwatering coffee and tasty food.
