"The Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, also known as ‘The Aussies' are coming to town. That’s right, this event is the largest of its kind across the globe, and this year it's getting underway on March 31.

Across the duration of the event, you can expect to see a total of 382 events, with around 4,500 men and women taking part. If you’re looking for a shorter stay, head down to Perth for the weekend and see the event take place right in front of you over two action packed days.

The event has a long history - in fact Scarborough first held the championship for Western Australia right back in 1951. The 2014 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships will mark the 11th time Scarborough has held the event.

If you’d like to stay close to the beach, then Mantra on Murray is a great option. Located near the CBD, you're not far from the sand, but will also be close to everything else Perth has to offer. In addition to this, you can choose from a spacious and comfortable studio or suite.

You might want to browse the shops or try a new restaurant and bar every night. There are plenty of natural, cultural and historical attractions to visit as well, including the Western Australian Museum, Swan River and Yanchep National Park. That means even if you take a day off from watching The Aussies action, there's something else fantastic to discover and things to do that cater for the whole family.
