Secure your holiday accommodation and get ready for the Surfers Paradise Festival, set to amaze crowds in April 2014.Surfers Paradise Festival: Music, Art Food & Culture

Keeping the family entertained on the weekend and holiday periods is always a challenge, which is why I love the opportunity to get them out of the house and  involved in some of the great attractions we have available on the Gold Coast. The Surfers Paradise Festival is one I bookmark in my calendar as it offers a wide range of experiences so there’s plenty for everyone - and if you've got kids to keep busy then this event is ideal!

This year it’s happening on the Gold Coast from April 2-26, so get ready to dip your toes into the grand things available at this year’s extravaganza of music, art, food, culture and more.

Fun is to be had with street entertainment in Surfers Paradise throughout the month. Make sure you keep your eye out for the special events taking place during the festival. Don’t forget to have your camera handy as there will be lots of photo opportunities!

The first of these fantastic festivities is the Street Parade on April 2. This will launch the month-long festival, with a parade featuring community groups, children, marching bands and more winding their way through Surfers. There is always a great vibe as the streets are ablaze with colourful performers parading their way through town (you might even fancy taking some selfies in front of the marching band!).

Then between April 4 and 6, the shores will light up with the Launch It Beach Concert, with each of the three nights themed differently - this event is great for all ages, so bring your family along or grab a group of friends and dance the night away.

I love my food and if you do too, then you won’t want to forget the Surf, Seafood and Symphony event on April 12. Head to the Foreshore and Cavill Mall for a taste of delectable food stalls heavily influenced by fresh and tasty local seafood. Yummo! And you never know, it might just give you an idea for a new recipe to make at home.

Keep in mind this is just a selection of what's on offer - there's plenty more! I recommend that you visit the website and check out the full list of events that are happening, so you can pick the ones that are best suited to you.

If you’re travelling from inter-state and are looking for somewhere to stay, there is lots of holiday accommodation in the heart of Surfers Paradise. Position yourself here and you’ll be right where the action is set to take place. For awesome facilities and apartments offering panoramic ocean or hinterland views check out Mantra Circle on Cavill.

You’ll have direct access to the Circle on Cavill shopping precinct and will be a short stroll from the beach. Do your grocery shopping there and make use of the barbecue facilities, or stroll down to the many dining options available right in Surfers. Splash around in the lagoon style pool or laze the evening away in the spa - the choice is yours!
