Melbourne is an incredibly diverse city, with a whole melting pot of cultures influencing the cityscape.

Visit the city and see it for yourself with the Thai Culture and Food Festival. This event is taking place on March 15 and 16 at Federation Square in the heart of Melbourne city.

First up, head to the 'Thai Street Culture' display on the River Terrace, where Thailand's street food, barbecue, massage technique and various aspects of the culture will be demonstrated. Be sure to have a taste of as many of the delicacies as possible - 20 of Melbourne's premier Thai restaurants will be serving up delicious fare, with a focus on regional food and drink specialities. Come along with an empty stomach!

When you're done filling up on delectable Thai food, check out the Singha Beer Garden for some tasty beverages as well as live music.

On the second day of the event, come along to see the day start off with a traditional Buddhist monk blessing and opening ceremony. Following this, there will be a Thai Temple Fun Fair that will showcase all the best in Thai arts and crafts as well as games, not to mention an abundance of information on travelling to Thailand for those with restless feet.

Don't miss performances of dance, kickboxing and even a Miss Thailand Beauty Contest.

Those who have taken a particular shine to Thai flavours might like to head to a Thai cooking demonstration by celebrity chef Duncan Roberston during the afternoon.

You're going to need somewhere to stay during your time in Melbourne, so why not find holiday accommodation close to the action? Mantra on Little Bourke and Mantra on Russell are just five minutes' walk away from Federation Square, and can offer you the ultimate in comfort and service for the duration of your stay.
