When it comes to what to do in Sydney, you can't go wrong with a trip to the Art Gallery NSW.

Make March your month to head to the bustling metropolis of Sydney and pay a visit to this gallery, as the "Afghanistan: Hidden treasures from the National Museum, Kabul" exhibition is unveiled.

This is the first time the exhibit has graced Australian shores, bringing with it 230 priceless treasures spanning thousands of years. These items tell the story of Afghanistan and the Silk Road, the route that was travelled by historical figures such as Alexander the Great and Marco Polo and linked countries such as Iran, Asia, India, China, Greece and Rome.

Making the journey even more sensational is the fact that for many years, these precious artefacts were considered lost or destroyed due to war. However, they were rediscovered in 2003 hidden in the vaults of Kabul's presidential palace, secretly placed there by a few brave museum staff who wanted to preserve the country's relics.

From gold and bronze treasures to stone sculptures and more, you don't want to miss seeing what's on display in this historically significant collection.
