Surf's up at the Gold Coast: Your chance to catch the pros live

Hang ten at the Gold Coast with two top championships Surf's up at the Gold Coast: Your chance to catch the pros live

Even if you're not an experienced surfer yourself, watching the pros take their shot at some big waves is a great way to experience a taste of the Gold Coast. It might even inspire you to get your own surfboard out into the waves as well!

From March 1-12, the Quiksilver and Roxy Pro events are combined in one to offer a double-whammy of surfing elite.

These top ranking surfing events are part of the Association of Surfing Professionals (ASP)'s men's and women's World Championship Tour schedule for this year, followed by the Margaret River Pro competition.

With some of the best waves to be found anywhere, the Gold Coast is a natural choice for these top surfing championships. There's a prize of $500,000 for the winner so look out for some spectacular moves as surfers put it all on the line to take home the gold.

Look out for Australia's own Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Sally Fitzgibbons and Stephanie Gilmore going up against heavyweights such as Kelly Slater and Courtney Conlogue. There are surfers competing from all over the world as well, and with wildcard competitors you never know who might pull off a major upset.

Make sure you've got your spectator spots sorted with holiday accommodation nearby. Mantra Crown Towers offers plenty of fun for the whole family with a lagoon-style pool with its own pirate ship and a fully equipped gym, spa and sauna to satisfy the adults.

There's even an on-site restaurant to make your dining options easier, and the spacious self-contained apartments are sure to make you feel at home while on holiday.

The hotel is just 100m from Surfers Paradise Beach and 20km from Coolangatta Airport, so it's a convenient choice for anyone looking to visit the Gold Coast.
