Get your running shoes on and get training for the Sunshine Coast Marathon - the perfect excuse to take a holiday. The Sunshine Coast Marathon: the perfect excuse for a holiday.

If you are someone who finds it hard to 'sit around and do nothing' on holiday, then why not combine a family getaway with a little bit of exercise?

Entering a sports event is a great excuse to check out another destination while at the same time staying fit and healthy and really earning a few holiday treats!

The 7 Sunshine Coast Marathon & Community Run Festival is being held on August 25 and entries are now open, so what are you waiting for? Head along to the website to fill out your entry form and get ready for a fun-packed weekend in this beautiful part of Australia.

With courses ranging from five kilometres to 42.2km, there is an event for everyone, no matter what your fitness level. There is even a two kilometre fun run for the little ones.

"Cool off in the water with some swimming, snorkelling or surfing, or grab a bite to eat in one of the many cafes and restaurants in the area."

You can also use the run as an opportunity to raise money for a cause close to your heart. Last year, teams raised a collective total of over $150,000 for their chosen charities - not a bad effort!

Once you have completed your run, you can then sit back, relax and enjoy all of the other activities that the Sunshine Coast has to offer.

Cool off in the water with some swimming, snorkelling or surfing, or grab a bite to eat in one of the many cafes and restaurants in the area.

Base yourself at Mantra Mooloolaba Beach, which is located in the heart of Sunshine Coast and close to many other beautiful beaches and shopping precincts.

Here you will also be able to revive those tired muscles with a swim in the indoor pool, or have a nice spa or sauna.

After all that exercise, you will also well and truly have earned a delicious meal from the hotel restaurant or nearby food havens!
