Ring in the new year in Melbourne
The city of Melbourne will be putting on New Year's Eve celebrations this year unlike any other, so you've got to get down to the Victorian capital to take it all in.
If you're travelling to the big city this silly season or you're a resident wondering what to do in Melbourne as the clock counts down, you can't go past the fireworks and entertainment hosted throughout the city.
Early evening
If you've got children in tow or are just looking for celebrations that commence earlier rather than later, head down to Yarra Park at 6:00pm for all the excitement of a traditional New Year's Eve extravaganza without the late curfew.
Bring the whole family down for two main stages of free entertainment, plus plenty of games and activities for kids to enjoy. Them Swoops, Sol Nation and The Cactus Channel will keep crowds entertained all night. There'll be a spectacular fireworks display at 9:30pm to cap off the evening.
