How to experience Sydney's suburbs

Posted By dm_holly On December 2, 2013

Explore Sydney's suburbs this summer and get outside the CBD. How to experience Sydney's suburbs

There's so much more to Sydney than the Opera House and the CBD. While the city centre does offer plenty of excitement, atmosphere and activities, to get a true sense of the city you'll want to hit the suburbs.

If you're staying in long-term accommodation like Mantra 2 Bond you're in a perfect location to get around the city. Sydney's got a range of fantastic public transport options including trains and buses, all of which run regularly and reach the outer limits of the city.

Head to Coogee with the kids

Load your family up with beach essentials and take a trip to Coogee Beach for a family-friendly experience. The surf is calm and you can stroll along the promenade to take in the parklands and historic buildings.

The area has undergone developments in recent years to include upmarket restaurants along with its traditional surfy fish and chip shops, and there are boutique clothing and speciality stores there too.

From here you can also walk along the coast to Bondi for a unique view of Sydney's stunning coastlines.

Get cultured in Darlinghurst

Once you get past the adult stores along the King's Cross Darlinghurst Drag, there's a lot to be discovered in this suburb. Its streets are lined with quaint cafes featuring some of the best coffee you will find in the city along with a range of delicious baked treats, upmarket and casual restaurants, and more shops than you can poke a stick at.

Darlinghurst has shady side streets with beautiful terrace housing and apartment blocks. It's a hive of artists, chefs, musicians, actors and other creative types who hang out to perfect their craft and contribute to the artistic vibe of the area.
