Coolangatta is close to the Gold Coast and has plenty to offer. Cool off in Coolangatta

Holidaymakers and locals wondering what to do on the Gold Coast this summer should consider taking a trip to Coolangatta.

Known for its stunning swim and surf beaches, Coolangatta is Queensland's southernmost coastal town and as such is spoilt with spectacular scenery.

Set yourself up with holiday accommodation at Mantra Coolangatta Beach and be right in the heart of the action. Choose from a studio or apartment and relax as you take in internationally recognised beaches like Kirra, Greenmount and Rainbow Bay.

If you're the outdoorsy type, you'll be spoiled for choice here. Kirra and Cook Islands have dive sites for you to explore and discover natural wildlife, or you can head to Point Danger to witness dolphins playing in the waves.

"Make the most of the consistently outstanding weather by taking to the seas for swimming, body boarding or even a surf lesson or two.

When you get hungry you can head along to one of the many restaurants, bars and cafes the town offers. Whether you're after Italian, Thai or Mexican cuisine, fresh seafood or simply a fresh cup of coffee, you'll be well looked after.

Make the trip over for New Year's Eve to take in the two fireworks displays put on as the clock ticks over. You'll also be at a great vantage point to see displays over the coastline at Surfers Paradise, so it's double the fun.

Make the most of the consistently outstanding weather by taking to the seas for swimming, body boarding or even a surf lesson or two. You'll find qualified surf instructors to take you through the basics and have you standing on your board in no time.

Rainbow Bay, Greenmount and Coolangatta are all patrolled by lifeguards throughout the week and on weekends, so you're in safe hands at Coolangatta.
